Angela and Niels are a husband and wife team who live in Berkeley with our six-year-old daughter, Leah. Angela has been teaching and coaching parents for four years using the Parenting by Connection approach. Niels joined her in this practice a year-and-a-half ago, and he is currently receiving certification training from Hand-in-Hand Parenting (the amazing non-profit organization that developed Parenting by Connection). Before starting on this path, Angela worked in the youth development field as a non-profit consultant, and Niels was an anthropologist by trade. We met when we were both in the process of becoming ministers.

However, our lives took a different turn when we began to see that Parenting by Connection, the practice that had healed and brought hope to our family again and again through challenging times, was having the same impact on other families we taught. We became increasingly passionate about this work—not only because it solves common parenting struggles—but because we see it as a healing, empowering movement that can change lives like nothing we’ve seen before.
