5 Things You Can’t Overlook While Getting Your Air Conditioner Ready for the Summers

1

The hot days of summer are around the corner. These days will come with heat waves and high temperatures. Data has shown that summers are getting more hot day by day. We all run towards our central air conditioning system to beat the heat.

Imagine we switch on your AC, and it doesn’t get on because we couldn’t pay much attention to the maintenance of our AC during winter when you were not using it. AC company tells the customer about the most crucial thing in their advertisement, which you shouldn’t overlook, maintenance.

Yes, it is essential to keep regular maintenance of the air conditioning system. But don’t worry; this article can help you with what you must do to make your central air conditioning system summer ready. There is a bonus tip also.

1. Cleaning the air filters

The air conditioning system’s filter can also be called the lungs of AC, meaning we keep it clean and healthy. We must clean dust, smoke, and leaves from it. Uncleaned filters can impact cooling.

Yes, clean filters can improve cooling and air quality. One of the easiest ways to clean the filters is to remove them and then clean them with a vacuum cleaner or suction pump which are generally designed for these types of work.

2. Regular Service of your AC.

It is important to clean the filter, but some other components need to be cleaned, and it is hard to reach them, like the evaporator coil. So, for these things, we need some specialized tools for the purpose.

We can go for a water pressure washer; this is considered one of the easiest-to-handle tools. We can use it to clean our evaporator coils and other components too. If you don’t have any experience in AC cleaning, then calling an experienced service agent is a better idea. If we don’t regularly clean the coil, it can lead to corrosion and gas leakage.

3. Removing Debris

Due to no use, leaves and debris can be found all over the air conditioning system. The outer part of our AC is the condenser, which can be seen as full of debris, dust, and leaves due to no use.

So, it is also very important to clean the blades of fans. Warm water can be the best option for cleaning these parts. Keep your condenser clear by frequently checking it for debris or leaves.

4. Keep the Vent Neat and Clean

Cleaning an Ac is not easy, as we all know it can make us dirty. But to fight the heat and ensure the excellent health of AC is a must. Checking the supply vent for blockage is necessary because if it is blocked, it can have consequences of bad air quality and unnecessary pressure on AC ducts, resulting in less efficiency of the AC.

Therefore, make sure that none of the ducts should remain blocked and make sure that you keep these ducts free from blockage.

5. Checking the Refrigerant

It is not always recommended to change the coolant, but we are here to tell you to check the level of the coolant. What if it is running low, and we think something is flawed with our AC?

It is easy to check and find the two small and one big pipeline with insulation. Touch the large one; if you feel a cold or sweet sensation, it has sufficient coolant, but if it is hot, we must fill the coolant to it. The reason is that if we run our AC on low refrigerant, it can put unnecessary pressure on the air conditioning system’s compressor.

Bonus Point – Insulation of Room

Apart from the points mentioned above, there is a bonus point to give you. Apart from the component of AC, we have an area that indirectly can affect the cooling of AC, called insulation.

Insulation helps reduce the heat flow, which means it can keep the temperature in check when it fluctuates, which can lead to the efficiency of AC by making cooling smooth for the AC.

If you have an attic, then you must ensure the attic insulation. We have many options available in the insulation market. You can go for anyone which suits your budget.

Following these points, you can prepare your air conditioning system for summer. Otherwise, it will be hard to fix these issues and lose money. Also, don’t do everything by yourself, as mentioned above, if you have no experience with some things, then it would be a good idea to call experienced AC technicians. After that, the rest is on you.
